Am I correct in saying that the Chicken Cup is always played between the winner of Sun Div 1 and the Cup, unless the same club wins both?

If that were to happen, what happens then?

Tonksy are you the only Vale supporter on the forum at the moment and Im sure ill have a beer or 2 on sunday with you mate nice to see you supporting the real black & gold against the downs.

When I played for the Vale as a kid from 75-77 and going to vale primary they were gold & black but the real true black & gold I found out is the Gardens.

There will be a spread put on by the gardens ladies in the clubroom after the game for all players and spectators :D

They put a better spread on than the Downs ladies and you can guarantee it will be very tasty and you want to come back for more. Hope that a little clearer.

Will you be coming down with that big telescopic lens of yours :?:

I don't have a big telescopic lens, just an old digital video camera that takes stills and has a batterry that is dying slowly.
Might do just to see the silky skills of htfc in action!

Disappointed to say.. unfortuantly Jurek Koziek has done his knee last week against Florina in Mayors Cup final & requires a recon :(

Shattered for a good mate & a big loss for us for the year. Whats with Gardens & knee injuries, 5 seasons straight now

Boys will be going out this week to win the Chicken Cup & will hopefully put a smile on his face after a disappointing week

Everybody from Parafield Gardens wishes Jurek all the best for a speedy recovery

Jurek would be one of the best players Ive played with, people may critisize and say he could and should be playing a higher level (he wouldnt be the only player in the league) I didnt think it was that bad when I seen it happen BUT spoke to him after and he said he heard it POP. I hope he has a speedy recovery and makes a full comeback, I guess he will be feeling really low at the moment but thats to be expected. When will he have surgery? Gardens will be OK as I believe they have depth (He will be hard to replace) All the best Jurek.

Massive blow for Jurek, our club & the season ahead,

I would have to say Jurek is one the best player's I have had the privlage to watch play for the GARDENS,

Not only is he a great player, but his a quality bloke to have around the club,

In the 6 years he has played at the GARDENS he has allways remained loyal to the club, turning down better offers to play for the GARDENS & with his mates!

We all wish him a speedy recovery & hope we see him back in the GOLD & BLACK real soon.

I hope this spurs on his team mates this sunday & they bring it home for Jurek!

"GO YOU GARDENS"!

Its become a common trend. I'm starting to think it may be to do with the hardness of the pitches and the impact that it has on ligaments. I'm still recovering from one and had two mates requiring recons in preseason. Not sure how common it has been in the past, but it seems alot of lads are suffering similar injuries lately.

Wish him all the best. It seems like only yesterday I did mine and I'm back training again.

Was talking to a physio down at Panthers a few weeks ago and asked him if he had noticed an increase in the number of serious knee injuries, particularly in young players. I hardly recall anyone during my playing time, suffering these kinds of injuries.
he blamed it on a combination of things, the harder surfaces, players not running in new boots properly (I remember boots lasting me 3-4 seasons albeit as a goalkeeper..and usually had 2-3 pairs going), boots not really designed for Australian conditions, (too much grip...older boots had round studs, many modern boots don't).
It's strange that despite the increase in sports "science" knowledge these sorts of injuries are on the increase.
Also these days young players tend to focus more on "one" sport, no summertime sports to use alternative muscles and joints.
Hopefully Jurek will have a full recovery and return to the game he obviously loves.

Knee Injuries suck. Ive had 2 in the past 3 years. May 2006, and then december 2007!. They were both full recons. First training back and I twinged it again. No ACL but need my cartiligde cleaned out now. Getting really frustrating when Im only 25 as well. Best of luck to all thouse coming back from recons. Very hard to do when you have other commitments like work and family. They expect you to do so much but forget we are not proffesional. If it takes someone at Adelaide UInited 9 months to get back with all the therapy and the lack of cost and more free time to do it, its gonna take us normal folk longer. Build those leg muscles up boys, you gonna need it, and then it still may not help.
I think my drinking club has a soccer problem.....
