well done to the lad he is a good player and finally has something to show for his hard work!!!! alot of people forget that he has played for so many clubs and succesful at most of em!

But whats wrong with players being rewarded for their achievements? Finishing as top goal scorer in a league such as the EPL is a massive achievement and should be recognised.

I think the point was more about all players on the park have their important roles to play, not just the strikers.

If he had meant that he would have said so..
What he said was it shouldn't be about individual awards. That statement right there suggests that he doesn't agree with players being rewarded individually for their efforts, only the team as a whole.
Strikers aren't the only players to be rewarded with awards. The PFA player of the year and Football Writers player of the year both went to midfielders (Giggs and Gerrard, although it could be argued that Gerrard is a striker primarily now). And beside, the Golden Boot doesn't have to go to a striker..It could go to a midfielder or very prolific defender
