Elizabeth Downs Summer 7-A-Side Comp

After a year off to get our pitch fixed, we are going to have our annual Summer Comp Kick off.
We are still in the drafting process and are looking at a few potential changes to the rules to make the game a little more different than it has been in previous years.

This year there will be no womens Comp, so that means more room for mens teams. We will be hoping for around 12 teams, but may accomodate a few more if needed. Games run for approx half hour, and on some night your team may be required to play twice, depending on team numbers.

First night will more than likly be Wednesday October 7th, with the finals being played December 16th. There will be prise money, but that wont be decided until the teams are confirmed.
Entry fee per team will be $300. This will need to be paid upfront this year, but does mean that you dont have to worry about weekly payments.
It would be great if we can get some teams from other clubs out there, if you could ask around your club and see if anyone is keen. The competition has a great reputation in the north, and while it wont compete with the Athelstone comp, its great for local clubs to get invloved.

Rumour has it that there is an elite group within the Downs that will be entering a formidable team of size and stature (and hollow legs)...........?

Clubs or teams interested can PM me or Rexie to book your spot. There will be a cup comp involved too. Prize money for the winners will be around the $1500 mark and will be finalised when we have all teams registered.

Just to clarify the $300 per team entry fee works out to around $3.00 per player per week. All entry fees are paid out as prize money.

Just Bumping this up.

At this stage we are aiming for a 12 team comp. The last week before Xmas (16th Dec) will be the cup comp, and will be run in 2 leauges, Bottom 6 and Top 6.

The 6 weeks prior will more than likley involve at least one week where you will play 2 games. Scheduling permitting, you will play the first game, and last game.

This is and has been a great comp in the Northern suburbs, so it would be good to see a few club repsesentative teams join if they want to.

LEAGUE BOTTOM 6 FINALS BOTTOM 6 FINALS
1st - $1,000 WINNER - $700 WINNER - $500
2nd - $600 RUNNER UP - $450 RUNNER UP - $350

The final 6 round will have 2 teams playing 2 games er night. The first game and last game. This is so we have everyone playign each other once.
The week before Xmas will be the finals.

Friday nights???!! What about Adelaide United games, surely you'd wanna work around them? Wednesday nights were great, and it breaks up your week

Friday nights will generally get a better crowd.

United games was a consideration so we have had Foxtel installed in the club to make sure it can be watched. And it is also on a plasma screen so that shouldnt bee too much of a problem.

Wednesdays were ok, but lots of people would generally leave after as kids have school, people have work. Fridays should work out fine.

There are 5 weeks when United are at home on the Friday

Not a huge lot of difference.
Just now being on the Firday night.
Also no womens comp so games will be finished earlier and can start later.
