What about U15A Gawler-Cumberland
15a's Gawler asked for card check, Cumby refused then after a discussion admitted they didn't have any players cards, so Gawler won 3-0, Cumby didn't like it but rules are rules.

16a's Gawler 2-0 Cumberland

:x

So does the U15a's manager/coach get a repremand !

two clubs from the opposite ends of town get up bloody early and trek to the ground and get this cabernet.

Gawler take the 3-0 but did the boys play anyway :?

How to drive kids away from the worlds greatest game eh ?

Pretty hollow victory unless you truly believe the kids were the wrong age. I hear Cobras had no cards today but the game still went ahead. From what I understand Cumberland is made up of a lot of Under 14's anyway and given their 17's and 16's both managed to field teams I highly doubt there would have been an overage player within cooeee!

So why bother having registration cards or rules for that matter. We could have had anyone playing couldn't we, no guarantee they even were registered at all. Every other team can have their reg cards to view and other teams are quick to quote rules and regulations to us. Every one on this forum complains about teams not following the rules or bending the rules during the season in relation to overage players, but when a whole team decides to follow the rules they are criticised for it.

I understand what you are saying (and agree to a large extent) but wonder what difference it makes to either team given that it wont save Gawler from relegation and Cumberland will also be unaffected. Just feel for a bunch of parents and kids from both sides that have gotten up pretty early in the morning to play a game of soccer. If it was early in the season or there was something genuinely riding on the game that would be a different case. Did you absolutely believe that they were playing kids of the wrong age? It seems that there are teams out there that do it week in week out and there are no repercussions but I guess I feel for all of the kids as I would assume the Gawler kids wont be jumping up and down with joy at that great win! Given Cumberlands form this season it may have been a game the kids could have won and felt pretty good about themselves.

Interestingly FFSA hasn't put up the 'result' of the Gawler vs Cumberland game yet.

U15A - Upset win for ABE over Para Hills and second win of the season for Noarlunga beating West Adelaide.

16a's Gawler 2-0 Cumberland

Close but not quite the truth. Because Cumberland have been short of players for the 17s there's been a lot of players moving up and down this year so the cards obviously follow them. The 15s manager forgot some of the cards that had been returned to him so only had 7 (I think) cards in his bag. There wasn't enought time to drive back to Adelaide and back out to Gawler before the match was due to start. So, they didn't refuse and the coach was willing to play with the 7 boys but the referee said no and called it off.

It was a mistake and Gawler are quite within their rights to call for the cards and, I assume to claim the 3-0 win. However, I do feel that the rules could be amended so that the kids don't miss out on a game. Let them play, but you have to produce the cards by the END of the match. If you do, the result stands, and if you don't, the game is forfeited.

We're not playing for the World Cup here folks!
