Group A: Mexico vs Uruguay

Post by Red-4-Life »

Winner takes top spot in group A. Who do you think will win?

And...the sweet sweet sound of people chanting!!! Not as many horns as South Africa vs France :D

Im tipping Uruguay 2-0

I hope it's Mexico. With all the South American sides doing so well I wonder if Comnebol will be requesting more berths for the next tournament. Their humungous qualifying round will have two less games with Brazil not needing to qualify. Asia could lose a berth too.

Europe (1 or 2 places), CONCACAF (1.5 places) and Asia (0.5 places) could all stand to lose qualifying places, they provide too many teams that are there to just make up the numbers
problem is, who do you give the spots to...
the tournament works well in its current format, so it'd be hard to change the number of teams

I like watching Uruguay play. They are a very disciplined unit, solid when defending and you cannot discount that attacking firepower they have.

Of all the teams who didn't make it, how many of those teams wouldn't be making up the numbers. If anything europe is probably the only confederation who could have more places and those teams having a chance of progressing. eg. russia, croatia, belgium southern ireland & sweden

if they didn't play well enough to beat the likes of Slovakia, then they don't deserve to be there, and it is questionable as to whether Slovakia should be there

Whether they deserve to be there is irrelevant.

Of the teams that didn't make it, who wouldn't be there just making up the numbers. If you had to name the 5 best teams that didn't make it, i'd be suprised if 4 of them weren't from europe.

Poland were unlucky to miss out, REPUBLIC of Ireland as well, Columbia, Ecuador maybe? I think the world cup is good in its current format.

An easy geographic error to make

Not like the numptys around here that still think all the games are being played at altitude.
Now, if you're lucky, you could hack through your ankle in five minutes.

why didn't they qualify then? Not good enough to qualify, not good enough to do anything but make up the numbers
