There's no doubting Italy were awful. It was a deserved early exit after some rubbish football played. However personally, and from the thoughts of many Italian fans and pundits, this team was not going to go far. Should have gone further than what it did, but it probably would have played only one game extra. On the other hand this was an English team installed as third favourites IIRC, with all these world class players, etc etc, and they are still waiting after 44 years of nothing. That is the funny part.

I would have said Netherlands but it's a fair call. My point wasn't about Spain winning or not being able to embarrass themselves clearly it is possible that Portugal could score a bucket load of goals against us (they do have the talent after all) my point was that really Italian fans/those who defend the Italian team are the last one's that should be calling England's performance a disgrace considering they didn't even make it out of one of the easiest groups in the competition.
