The fact that he's English is irrelevant.

In what way? The Dutch have been fouling persistently but the Spanish can't wait to get on the deck then complain to the referee.

I think he's got most things pretty much spot on.

The dutch are the biggest cry babies (after Italy of course) to play in a WC Final.

webb had a great game and showed why he was chosen to do the game in the first place.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

He 'could' of shown a red earlier, that 'may' have made the Dutch change their tactics and try and play football.

Yes, he (and his assistant) got the goal kick wrong, but overall he did a good job, and the final won't be remembered for the refereeing.

I thought so too.

Much as I hate to agree with the raging JL Brown (they never did get over us sinking their Armada), the only questionable decision was the foul on Alonso. I thought Sneijder was very lucky. Against that, several of the Spanish players could have been booked for asking for cards and general sooking.

How Van Bommel managed to play out the whole tournament without getting a red card is one of life's mysteries.

He did well apart from that free kick that took a deflection off the wall then the goalkeeper took a touch and he called it goal kick
Dan Birdwell - You have to play this game like somebody just hit your mother with a two-by-four.

Glad that SPAIN won the WC.
If The Nederlands managed to fluke it, it would have been two non football playing teams winning two straight WC, not good for the game.
Spain did make hard woirk of it, but eventually did it. The ref should have sent 4 Dutch players off not only one. He kept the Dutch in the game.

You're absolutely right. Netherlands were playing hockey this year and Italy in 2006 were playing Nintendo.

You have to learn, just because Iniesta falls over, that doesn't mean he was fouled. Someone could fart in the crowd and the wind would knock him down.

I agree given Hollands sole objective was to kick the crap out of Spain and snatch a counter attack.

I would love to see some of the referee critics in action , they would struggle to control a div ten sunday game.

Ref did a very good job.

He could've made the spectical about himslef like many many other refs but kept it together well.

Poor form from Iniesta trying to get Van Bommel sent off.

Actually wait, no it wasn't.
