LFC and Warrior announcement

Post by Fitz »

The deal, which will come into play from June 1st 2012, will see Warrior create the Liverpool FC home, away and third kits, as well as their training wear for the next six years.

Owned by Boston based New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc., the move represents the starting point in Warrior Sports' global football journey partnering with one of the biggest club sides in the history of world football. Warrior Sports recognises the heritage of Liverpool FC and has employed industry experts in design, development, marketing and implementation to ensure that the brand has the best people on hand to support the Partnership.

Richard Wright, General Manager for Warrior Sports comments: "At Warrior Sports we pride ourselves on high performance and an incredible desire to win. Our Partnership with Liverpool FC, a football institution and recognised brand name across the world, is the perfect fit. Warrior Sports has ventured into football to bring our knowledge of making top level product to a new playing field. We are not the sort of brand that is going to keep our head down. We are here to shake up the world of football and our Partnership with one of the most successful club teams of all time is just the start."

Ian Ayre, Managing Director of Liverpool Football Club, added: "Liverpool FC is thrilled to be able to announce this fantastic Partnership with Warrior Sports for the 2012-2013 Barclays Premier League season onwards. This is another landmark deal for Liverpool Football Club and once again shows the value of the Club's brand globally. Warrior Sports will bring its own unique brand and ideas to the Partnership, ensuring that they can assist us at the Club both on and off the field of play. Sharing the same focus of domination and winning will be an incredibly important part of this Partnership going forward. As with all our Partnerships we have taken time to form a relationship with the individuals behind this opportunity. I believe that Warrior have some outstanding people we can work closely with to continue to deliver quality products to our fans around the world."

I believe this deal is the most profitable venture by an English team for merchandise suppliers in history, surpassing the deal Man U have with Nike. Very good business by the Fenway Sports Group. Warrior mostly manufacture hockey gear in the States.

The kits better look decent. Not some budget cabernet.
Tommy: We've lost Gorgeous George.

Brick Top: Well, where'd you lose him? He ain't a set of fucking car keys now, is he? And it ain't as if he's incon-fucking-spicuous now, is it?

Sorry to see Liverpool and adidas part ways, for me they are intrinsically linked.

However we need to chase the dollar with financial fair play in the pipeline.

Warrior doesn't have a history with Football but their gear is good quality (similar standard to under armour).

Promising. UnderArmour have become a leading manufacturer for sportswear, particularly Basketball, NFL and athletics in the States. Warrior are a large company and I believe they do lacrosse gear as well. very interested to see what they come up with. I just hope we avoid a green away or third kit. Never liked a green kit we've had yet.

Cant wait for the designs to be revealed over the summer.

ADIDAS didn't want to be with an underperforming club.

Victory are hardly a performing club. AU have arguably a larger world and continental name/presence than MV.

I think that any football manufacturer would be glad to be in partnership with Liverpool. The history is there. In todays current situation, I hardly think LFC are underperforming. The top 6 places in the Premiership are currently held by 6 exceptional teams with good squads. From there it obviously falls away and I believe La Liga is a tougher competition, but the top 6 from the Prem would be in the top 3 in any other league in the world with their squad quality.

Exactly. Warrior have put forward an exceptional deal for LFC, as I mentioned, it is the largest kit supplier deal in British history.

Liverpool kits sell far more than Chelsea.

Warrior blew ADIDAS out the water, and now ADIDAS are stating they didn't want the deal.

Liverpool also can now make their own merchandise (off field and they have started), whereas ADIDAS inisited on having a massive range.

A quote from the article

"Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre responded to Adidas' attack, saying: 'We are disappointed Adidas seem to point to a lack of European football as a reason not to agree a new deal, and cannot see that we are on a par with the biggest football brands in the world."
