A Proud Mum's Thread...Redson's F3

Post by redmum »

This is youngest Redson testing out eldest Redson's new ride at a trial race at Mallala today...

After coming 3rd at the International Superkart Championships at Leguna last year, getting into an F3 ride is the next step to his dream...

Yes, I am a proud mum, can't wait to see his first race out at Bathurst next month :D

There will be tears from Redmum on his first raceday!! :D :D

It's good that little Redson has a brother (and parents) who encourage him to follow his dreams.
The amount of times Redson was told "you'll never get into racing, focus on something else!".....I'm so glad he didn't listen to them and worked his butt off to get there.

He knows he's probably too old for F1 now, but he said if he can just snag one lap in an F1 car, he'll die a very happy man! :D

How much sponsorship did he have to bring in for that?

Awesome stuff Redson!

Keep pushing hard and chase your dreams!

There are places overseas where you can test drive an F1 car to give you more experience!

Woo Hoo! A last minute entry at Tasmania, shaved 2.5sec of his time in second practise, currently 1.9sec behind the fastest driver in his class.

Made it on the front page of formula3.com.au

I'll post pics and more boasting soon!!

Of course! I am proud of the fact that he's living his dream and doing what a lot of people told him to give up on cos he'd never do it!!

On his practise session at Symmons Plains Raceway yesterday :D

Redson finished up at Symmons Plains 0.9sec behind the lead, which, being his first ever drive in an F3, is pretty damn good! :D

Gained 15 points for his first time out and finished 7th!! :D :D

Looking forward to Bathurst, which is well known to him from Superkart races, so should at least know the layout..better startout than at Symmons!!

Interesting..

I am glad that F3 is finally getting back on its feet as a category, a few years ago there were extremely small fields. It is an important category to have in Australia.

Good to see someone living the dream and having a crack at it.

It is still fairly small with regard to media coverage..no coverage at all, even when in support of V8s...yet Indi and Nascar have live coverage even here in Oz..
That's my only gripe...having to rely on texts from my son as soon as he hops out of the car, or staying logged onto Formula3.com.au to get updates when he's racing.
Hopefully it all gets better soon...

Anyway, he couldn't make it out to Bathurst..he was not impressed as the F3s now hold the lap record at Bathurst
and I have just booked my flights to Ipswich to watch him race, and then we will be heading out to Phillip Island for the last race of the season. Can't wait!!

a mate of mine is a former champion in this class. Well, I think it was this class anyway.

Just checked - it was this class. Unfortunately, he ran out of money and couldn't defend his title.

Have you never watched the v8s, grand prix or any races?
The drivers get points every race depending on their finish.
They get added up after each race and at the end of the season whoever has the most points wins the national title.
The other drivers in F3 have all completed 3 races so far, mike missed out on Bathurst, so to be fifth already is a pretty good thing!
