C team

Parafield 3 - Fulham 1

1st loss for the boys and from what I saw of the last 20 Parafield were on top.

Wake up call to the boys that no league is going to be a cake walk.

The boys will be better for it and will bounce back against the Farm.

B team

Parafield 3 - Fulham 1

1 down at half time and Parafield got a 2nd midway thru the half.

Then fulham woke up and were on top when Parafield got a 3rd against the run of play but Fulham got 1 straight back.

Had chances in the last 20 Fulham but couldn't get the 2nd to really turn the pressure on parafield.

A team

Parafield 3 - Fulham 1

Fulham 1 down at half time after a Donovan cracker.

Fulham then started to get on top early in the 2nd and got a deserved goal to Adam Osman who scored a cracker.

Fulham then had a 15 minute patch where it totally dominated but couldn't get the goal but had 2 or 3 really gd chances.

And Parafield as they do made Fulham pay for not converting and got a 2nd and then a late 3rd goal.

Fulham again by no means disgraced and can hold there heads up.

Hey Robbo / Jay I think you need to fix ur table for the ressies as ugly have listed mod vista as beating downs 7-0. It was the other way around, downs ressies won.

Vale vs Grove

Cs 2-3 .... Vale were 2-0 up early but let the game slip... credit to grove for pushing till the end and claiming the points.

Bs 4-0 (M.Gebauer x 2, P.Williams, A.Driscoll) - Grove keeper is amazing! Wouldve been 8-0 if not for him. Driscoll couldve had 5 on his own but for the keeper.

As 1-0 (C.Nicholls) - left after 75mins and missed the goal. Heard it was a Tim Crawford corner solidly put away by a Nicholls header from 6yrds out. Weather made the game really scrappy and plenty of hard work. 3 points that were needed by both teams so Vale are very happy to collect going into the cup round next week.

Always a good day when we meet the Grove lads, good group of blokes down there. Good luck to their boys till we meet again.

Scrappy first half with few chances, second Para come out and grabbed a quick two goals then ref ruined the contest with the worst two red cards I've ever seen. Game lost all tempo and para grabbed another with a complete miskick that ended up top corner. Great bunch of lads at south coast all the best to them.

B grade won 4-0

Good to see Chris didn't make it to half way through the year before putting the boots back on in the first team. Back to a player/coach role now?

Was a good game to watch today in the terrible conditions, a draw would have been a fair result, but you never let Chris Nicholls free on a corner. Referee was a disgrace, gave about 5 yellows for tackles that were due to slippery conditions, with no malice in them, also both him and the official linesman didn't see the goal kick, which he gave a corner, yet most supporters could see was a goal kick (which resulted in the goal). Also saw something that I have not seen in 1st team soccer, was the ref blow full time just as our player was about to have a shot in the six yard box, even the Vale supporters thought it was a bit strange.

Florina 3 West 1

Got there at half time and saw an exciting second half. Florina were the better side and deserved the points. Young lad up front for Florina rather silly to get himself sent off at 3-1 up. Thought the referee (sharky) had a good game espescially when tackles started to fly in a bit because of the slippery surface. Also poor form from the West keeper who tried to trip the ref after he awarded the third goal. Quick question who was the 10 for West today I thought he was very impressive.

Watched Downs vs Vista today, was a good game ( altho anyone who thinks this is same level of super or premier league are just kidding themselves ) Vista were good 1st half, solid defense with McKay wearing trimmers like a glove. Downs played well in own back 3 rd but then bypassed midfield with long balls which was a bit odd...good goal from vista, build up on left which resulted in a good switch of play by Brzenski which was nodded into the path of Miller who finished well.... 2nd Half completely different with Downs dominating the game. Began playing through midfield and totally controlled the half ... A scramble from a corner saw Scott Lindsay equalize and then brother Andrew scored a lovely curler from 20 yards.... Bounds and McKay were good for vista while Andy Lindsay, Marwe , Morrison and Day were good for Downs..... Looking forward to Parafield vs Downs in couple weeks... Any bets Nuggett ? Downs look good... ..... Couple vista boys down with cramp before half time ??? What the !

No players with cramp... One came off with a hamstring injury in 2nd half that was all. Downs definitely turned the game around 2nd half and showed class, to have the quality coming off the bench like they did too while we had a bare 11 with injuries and suspension but fought hard all game. Great spread and hospitality after the game also so a massive thanks to them.

Was also at the game today catching up with all and sundry....a little bit chilly and damp but an entertaining game.
Remember fondly SID's father in his brief time at the Downs in 1984 :(
Vista played to their current limitations trying to counter the Downs, who as SID said, the Downs stringing passes together until the last third of the pitch.
Vista's goal was a well finished counter attack finished off clinically by Joel Miller.
I missed Downs equaliser from Scott Lindsay after the break ( had to take our dog back to the car due to heavy rain). But once Downs equalised Vista seemed to go onto the back foot.
Andrew Lindsay's winner was a cracker from about 25 metres that left Vista's keeper looking back in horror.
It might have been more when Jason Trimboli rounded the keeper wide in the box with an open goal begging only be frustrated when it was adjudged that the ball had gone out of play despite being 20cm clear of the line
Great to meet Stop Or I'll Shoot...doing great things with the camera documenting the Downs 50th. year....good to see game photos up on a screen straight after the game.
The Downs Club and atmosphere has come a long way in 50 years.
