How does Emmo get a gig? Is he even fit yet? He was nothing short of a liability for Syd against the Tards.
Pity they couldn't get a few young kids from Europe here. Would have loved to see Leckie and Oar in the squad but still happy. This is the whole point of this tournament, to test our depth and promote our youth. Very excited to see!
Hope all the AU lads get a run!

North Korea might be tough though. They did make it to the last WC. Its basically a one off game between us and them as to who goes through.

Japan, South Korea and China are all qualified for the final stage, I wonder what squad we'll take to that should we qualify?

North Korea will be the toughest of the teams but I think we have the quality to beat them

Considering its a tournament we weren't part of till 3 months ago. I hope we don't take it so seriously that Holger doesn't pick any up and comers. Please please take a young euro squad!

Luke Wilkshire, Rostyn Griffiths, Ben Halloran and Osama Malik missed out on the final Socceroos squad for the EAFF East Asian Cup qualifiers in Hong Kong.

And you say the AFC were crazy to take away our ACL spot! Hong Kong are 172nd in the world against basically the HAL all stars!

Lets just qualify that...the "Australian" A-League all stars. How many Aussies would be in a true A-League all stars team?

Very true. Personally I would find most of the defence and central midfield would be Aussie. As I have tried before you are hard pressed to find to much quality at the pointy end. As I have mentioned before that is the single greatest issue facing our game going forward on the park. Australian football have no shortage of GKs, Central defenders, defensive and box to box midfielders. But try and find players who run at defenders, hold the ball up decently in attack and deliver decent crosses, its exactly the reason why the olyroos bombed out of the Olympic qualifiers without scoring. I think the biggest highlight of this is Matthew Leckie. Technically not brilliant but certainly fast and willing to run at defenders, as such currently rated as one of Australia's brightest talents.
The other issue I have is our ball movement. Constantly slow and predictable. I think Ange has shown its not a super talented line up that is demanded to produce that sort of play, MVFC were a rabble last season, Ange has come in and within 3 months produced a slick passing game every side in the HAL is now fearful of with not a huge amount of changes to the squad, and IMO one serious passenger in Flore$. I think Rojas' goal on the weekend is a perfect example of how slick passing spreads out opposition defences offering players to find space to shoot in areas that taking a shot will offer a large percentage of success.

It ends 1-1 and basically we're only going through if we score more goals in the next games then North Korea. So we're buggered. Holger you've done enough please go back to where ever the hell you came from you useless git

Finally Holger goes with an attacking line up! 9-0 so far. We've equalled NK's goal diff now.

So it finishes 9-0 meaning Socceroos and North Korea are equal on points and goal difference. With two matches remaining for each. God I hope Holger has learnt from this!

well wouldn't you believe it...play the young lads and they all bloody scored!!!!

Back in it now! Same GD as North Korea and both teams have a game to play, Aus with perhaps the "easier" opponent. Another 9-0 win (or close to it) should do the trick!!!

I think you'll find HK should have been this easy we just played cabernet! HK only just beat Guam 2-1
