HAL players in form for selection

Post by Stuckey »

I think if Holger has any clue what he is doing he should be playing players from the HAL that are showing quality. We are certainly struggling for goals with Brosque touching the ball once an hour and everything falling on Timmy's shoulders. McBreen should be a certain part of the squad coming up. How can he Holger watch so many HAL matches then not pick the top scorer of the league?

Holger Osieck has selected 11 Australian-based players to participate in a training camp on the Central Coast next week in preparation for the upcoming WCQ's. Squad as follows:

Mitchell Duke, Ivan Franjic, Eugene Galekovic, Craig Goodwin, Jonathan McKain, Mark Milligan, Aaron Mooy, Lucas Neill, Jade North, Trent Sainsbury, Michael Thwaite, Dario Vidosic.

Duke and Sainsbury good young players, but too raw and are there to experience the national training camp.

They were also part of the A-League champions CCM team that went down 0-3 to 11th-placed(!) J-League team Kashima Reysol. CCM's ball control was not as good as Kashima's. McBreen had a good season but is considered too old.

Not a good omen for what we face in Tokyo a month today (4/6/13). Especially if Shinji Kagawa of Man.U and his top Japanese mates cut loose.. Thwaite was skinned for speed by an unknown Omani and more of the same might await from Japanese speedsters.

Now caught between a rock and a hard place with no tough practice matches and only boring training camps for Neill to try and stay fit & improve his speed.

ps, did anyone notice Thompson is not in the train-on squad?

I'd hope that means he's not in the squad but its more likely to mean Holger has complete faith in him and doesn't need to look at a player who is a certain call up again.
