Thanks for that link! Can learn a lot from it. NSW thunder just so much more organised defensively. A few times in the first half SA trying to play 2-2 and the front 2 were dropping back following the first runner so the the front defensive line was forced back - too easily. It doesn't look like players know when to follow or when to pass a man on?? Need a general and some structure, we can't really expect to match teams like Thunder on the ball but a solid defensive structure is feasible.

That wasnt the case a couple of years back. ..they had two divisions in age groups with about 6 to 7 teams in each division....if you didnt finish top 2 you were finished and to get to top 2 possie I think you had to at least win at least 4 maybe 5 games.....my how things have changed.

Writing as a parent who has been at the tournament; well done to all teams. Some teams may not have reached the finals, but many games were competitive with close results. Also many teams played in
un-air conditioned venues, no fans with 40 degree outside temperatures. Coaches and team managers were run off their feet keeping our teams cool to play their games.
Good luck and a big congrats to the u14 girls who have made the Grand final tomorrow.

Overall I though the entire SA squad performed admirably.

The U15 and U16 boys and Open mens teams all made the semis. The U14 girls won the tournament and we walked away with 4 tournament MVP, 1 x golden boot and a grand final MVP award.

All this despite playing under the extreme conditions, with poor referee decisions and against teams who train up to 3 times a week all year round.

Well done to all who played and did SA proud.

Depends on your perspective. I suppose a team in a group of only 4 teams who get through to the next round with a 1-1-1 record then lose in the game to finish the tournament with a 1-1-2 record might also be considered unsuccessful to some.

Results on paper do not look good. The U13 boys team where sensational only loosing by a point in most games. Acknowledgement s from all other state coaches were they played "The real Futsal game".

Cristiano would've been one of the more average players of the tournament for the open men.
