There will not be a World Cup fanzone at Federation Square because it is holding the "Light in Winter" festival.
Instead, there will be a fanzone at the Docklands, as would be expected for such a big city like Melbourne.
Also, a dozen theatres of the 'Village Cinemas' chain in Victoria will be screening 10 first-round matches, including all 3 of Australia's matches.
Here in Adelaide I remember reading something about Marion & Arndale cinemas screening matches, but haven't seen details. Still a pity though that Adelaide, a city of 1,203,000 people couldn't have had an under-cover fanzone.
Fanzone at Docklands & games shown in 12 cinemas

Stirrer, I don't think that quite fits the definition of a Fan Zone or Fan Fest.Stirring The Pot wrote:There is one, it's called a living room.Con M wrote:Still a pity though that Adelaide couldn't have had an under-cover fanzone.
The 12 host Brazilian cities will have big Fanzones with carnival atmosphere for people there who couldn't get tickets or afford them. The Copacabana Beach one should be a beauty.
And similarly, other big cities around the World are planning their Fan Fests bringing football fans together.
It would have been good for lil' ol' Adelaide to have had a smaller football community gathering, at least for Australia's first game at that reasonable breakfast time of Saturday morning 14 June for the game against Chile.
