fulham rumours
Is there any truth to the rumour that Fulham had only 4 people turn up at training tonight??
Surely this is a wind up!

Re: fulham rumours
Where have all their amateurs gone? Surely they haven't signed their whole Sunday team to their new State League team.

Re: fulham rumours
Its either they have all gone across to the FFSA comp or players have left.
If they have left I would think the main reason would be the following:
The players want to stay as amateurs and no longer be involved with a competitive FFSA setup.
They probably fear if they stay around they will be called up to the FFSA team if they are good enough.
Therefore they go some where else where this cant happen to them.
This isnt just happening at Fulham.
I guess Fulham will have to make a statement.

agreed. its amateurs. plenty of time left! The General wrote:maybe the amateurs don't have to train to play ?
Im closer than you think
Re: fulham rumours
Would think they need to make sure they can field a team rather than wait for numbers to turn up

Just heard Fulham want to play in SAASL Sunday Premier again
Not sure this is going to be a good move for the league in 2016, player drain, next to no spectators always, will they even have a C team ?

Re: fulham rumours
Easy Robbo, Fulham earned the right to compete in Sunday Div 1 by their 2015 final league standing. If they can find a way to put 11 blokes out on the park good luck to them. Good to see they are going to at least give it a go after speculation they were going to give up the team.Robbo wrote:Just heard Fulham want to play in SAASL Sunday Premier again

They have made a decision to enter FFSA league, that is where their priorities lie now

I hope Fulham continue in Div 1. Even though they might be under maned at least they will put up the fight.
We will see what happens I guess.

Re: fulham rumours
If Fulham are leaving it to the last minute to decide if they will have the numbers ... Does this make it fair to the teams that get promoted last minute.. At least San Marco did the right thing and withdrew early
Bigpond you have gone very quiet on this topic of late.... given you were very vocal in previous years

If in the last game of the season Savoy play Southern Knights ( approx. 250km ) they can kill two birds with one stone and use that as their end of season trip as well
Re: fulham rumours
The Fulham committee would like to advise all members and interested parties that an amateur team will not be entered in 2016 - the amateur league has been informed.
The committee had every intention to field teams in Div 1 and a coach was also appointed. However the number of players going over from the 2015 amateur team to the new FFSA Mens team was not anticipated.
Even so, players were given a chance to turn out and support even a scaled back single amateur team in pre season as a coach was in place but the numbers to make it viable were not there. Fulham was not prepared to enter a team that would struggle every week for numbers as it is not the Fulham way.
The door is open anytime for a return to the amateur league (be it in 2017 or beyond) if the support is there and the Fulham committee can be confident the resources are in place to make it viable.
The Fulham committee wanted to issue this release to dispel any rumours that may be out there as to the reasons why a team has not been entered.
The committee gave it every chance but the numbers just did not turn up for 2016.

Well let's be honest either you are completely ignorant or exceptionally naive! Blind Freddy could see this was going to happen...
To be honest I hope you guys don't come back, because you have shown a complete disregard for the competition. It's clubs like you guys who have stars in their eyes and have been wooed from the FFSA that the SAASL don't need.
