When?
I think now is the right time?
Two categories -
1) Why do you care? You've stated that it's a plastic club, you don't attend games, you dislike the season, you have no interest in the game, you don't support any club or part of the game, you will not spend a cent going to any club or game.
2) Why should the owners sell now? Why should they sell at all, they may have purchased for the same reason you did your home.
What's the club worth?
Who are the likely candidates with money & interest in football?

Can't exceed the salary cap, they have a training facility, the stadium they don't own, the FFA pays for marquees......what ROI would you get from pumping money in????

Have enough funding to pay for coaching, buy coopers, build new city stadium, have city base club community base eg pub or club rooms .

Re: When is AU going to be sold?
They could build a training ground and implement a youth system. Maybe become more competitive and win the league. Maybe become one of only 2 teams that turn a profitThe Kop wrote:What woudl they do with the funding?johndedes wrote:Shoot goal

Why does AU need new owners? The current ones made them a championship team!

If you view last Sunday with a visional eye as I can the current new RAH is in the wrong position.
A new soccer stadium should have been built there instead.
Imagine that with the Torrens Riverbank development complete fans walking to and from the new stadium along the riverbank promenade .
The new rah should have been built on the old site.
Opportunity lost Adelaide Town.
It reminds me of west lakes being built for footy putting back Adelaide 40 years until AO upgrade.

Too bad that all the people who know how to run the country are busy on Internet forums.
Ernie Merrick: Of course I am happy when my team scores a goal, it's just that sometimes I forget to tell my face. (On why Ernie doesn't smile on the sideline.)

My thinking around this.
I feel since the new owners took over they have run it low cost and made sure the ledger is not red.
I also feel they might be holding out for bigger dollars later?
That is my assumption of events.

Re: When is AU going to be sold?
Hey JD, was any Grand Final/Final as good as Sunday's Grand Final back in "the good old days?" No acknowledgement that the A-League has taken the game to an unrivalled level in this country?
I am not knocking the NSL. I was a supporter of an NSL club and I loved that period. I fully acknowledge and appreciate what the NSL has done in terms of the development of the game. I recognise its history. However, I have never heard you acknowledge what the A-League has managed to achieve and that it was the right way to go ( Start all over again with a professional league/one team per city concept).

If you are looking for answers simple!
How much $$ from the AO final went to AU?
What was the Hal league final prize money ?
What $$ out of the game did AU make?
I am waiting?

So you answer a question with these questions. Actually, you haven't really answered the question that I have put to you.
I never said that things are perfect now. I agree that there should be prizemoney for the Premiers/Champions. I am sure that this will come in the future. In any case, the issue isn't just about money and in the way you put it. The building public support, promotional value of the Grand Final, increased sponsorship opportunities, engagement with the fans, inspiration to young Adelaide footballers and the perception of the sport have significantly gained as a result of the Sunday's game. It has provided United with access to the Asian Champions League which has the potential to earn the club big dollars-more than any club had access to in the NSL period.
Again, you either didn't understand the question or you deliberately deflected the issue with these mostly irrelevant questions.
ANSWER THE QUESTION for a change JD!!

Answer; The a league has had some successes at budget running costs and salary caps but plenty of failed clubs.
The answer forward is selling the clubs and the league to pump more funds into it.

What about the number of failed NSL clubs? It is incorrect to say "plenty of failed clubs." The Auckland team, Nth Queensland and Gold Coast only.
What about the improved structure in term's of the games governance?
What about the establishment of a professional league?
What about the increased attendance numbers?
What about the Fox Sports and SBS television coverage?
What about the National Youth League?
What about the standard of the games?
What about the acceptance of the A-League as a "mainstream support."
What about attendances at Grand Finals? The lowest has been 30K in the 11 years of the competition.
No comment about these things?

Like it or not the way forward is to sell up.
You are truly pathetic. Again you completely ignored the issue and the questions that were being posed to you. Then again, you lost any credibility or respect on this forum years ago. As you are so arrogant and have no pride, it doesn't matter to you. The walls of my house have more intelligence than you!!

Selling AU might also benefit future new stadium build.
Also selling coopers stadium.
