I'll take 4:0 but other scores didn't go our way. Great goas to Goody and Riley.

Japan beat China 2 - 0, a total one way game with many missed chances, not heard the other results yet.

Mooy was a passenger for most of the game and was ineffective in that deep lying role.

Where was Mabil, he was by far our most threatening and effective player against Vietnam last time we played them, does Arnie have a problem picking Black players?

Is doing abit of research to hard for you .... Mabil is recovering from COVID and has fallen out of favour at his club and hasn't played any football since his last game against China.

But you are the expert and you would select a player for an international game with there last game being 16th November.

OM does sound an angry OM. Btw I didn't think Mooy's game was bad. He control midfield easily.

his lack of pace was highlighted when Viet counter attacked....thus my question about Irvine....he's neither creative enough nor defensive enough...so whats his role in the mid???

Take the win and move on and well done to Goody and Riley for scoring, but Vietnam should have scored when it was 2-0 and that shot hit Ryan on the shoulder, they had a good passage of play then and would have made the game more interesting if that went in, need to rely on results now and must win the last 3 games which i don't believe they are up to, so once have to qualify the hard way

Oman 2 Australia 2.

Very pedestrian performance. McLaren and Rogic barely sighted in the first half and rightfully substituted.

3 points behind Japan in second place and automatic qualification.

Nothing less than a home win on Thursday 24 March will do. Have to beat Japan, draw level on 18 points and be ahead for second place on goal difference.

Then who knows what can happen away to first-placed Saudi Arabia on Tuesday 29 March.

I agree with the McLaren and Rogic and throw in Leckie. Goodwin added a bit more in his cameo. Rogic hot and cold. We really fail in attack. McLaren does not inspire and when Duke comes on its not much better although he done well in setting up Mooy's goal. The Oman penalty was dodgy. Leckie had a better claim turned down in the first half.

The only way we end up with the auto spot is to win both game remaining. Doubt it happening. The Saudi's are safe. GD may be the decider.

i did try to fond out about Mabil but obviously not hard enough, for which I apologize, but I am still not impressed with Arnies selections of late.
I think he's lost the plot with his selections, you should pick the players who are performing regularly against the type of opponents you are facing, not those who are up and down like some he picked.

Socceroos star Ajdin Hrustic scores two stunning goals in the Bundesliga

Socceroos star Ajdin Hrustic has scored two stunning goals for his Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in a 3-2 win over Stuttgart on Sunday (AEDT).

The Australian was subbed into the game at the start of the second half at 1-1 and it was only a matter of seconds before he put Frankfurt lead.

From a corner, Hrustic arrived on the edge of the penalty area to meet the delivery and rifle a bouncing volley into the bottom corner.

After Stuttgart again levelled the game on 70 minutes, Hrustic stepped up to once again give his team the advantage - but this time it was matchwinning.

Receiving the ball just outside the box with a short pass, the 25-year-old curled a wonderful low shot that bounced off the goal post and into the net.

📽️ An instant #Bundesliga classic as @Eintracht_ENG triumphed 3⃣➖2⃣ over @VfB_INT with Ajdin #Hrustic the difference maker! 👏 pic.twitter.com/disNBz9rhK

— Bundesliga English (@Bundesliga_EN) February 5, 2022
The victory sees Frankfurt into ninth position on the Bundesliga table, but they are only three points away from the fourth-place Champions League spot with 17 games to play.

Hrustic has become a star for club and country over the last 12 months after he secured a transfer from Dutch Eredvisie side Groningen to Frankfurt in Germany's top position.

He has also impressed during his 13 Socceroos caps, scoring two goals but didn't play much of a part in the recent World Cup qualfiers as he was suspended for the Vietnam match and was only used off the bench against Oman.

Is he going to be able to play at that level, he's not exactly setting the A-League on fire this year?

He has scored 7 goals in 14 matches in a Glory side that has struggled this season.

A must-win for the Socceroos on tonight. I don't have a good feeling about this. Hope we have an upset win.

I share your pessimism but still have the hope that the 'Aussie back to the Walls' spirit will come to fore and we can scrape a 2 - 0 victory over Japan.

Terrible display this evening. Time for a change I think In the coaching.

The younger coaches in the likes of Aloisi and Popovic are much more dynamic.

The defence was terrible at the end.

And we have no forwards that can get a shot on target, nor be able to score.

Fix the problems in the squad, now!

We were in trouble with all the outs but also bringing in aa over the hill Fornaroli was a bad look. could have been 4:0 or more if not for our GK and the bar. At least we can concentrate on the playoffs and hope our squad gets some good
reinforcements back.
