Oh, such sad news.
Rale was a wonderful leader of the ‘74 Socceroos
World Cup team.
Together with The Advertiser writer Meno Toutsidis, I saw Rale’s side play in a ‘73 Qualifier against Iran
in Sydney when they won 3-0. We bit our fingernails during the 0-2 defeat in Tehran when they just hung on to get to meet South Korea in the last qualifying round.
Rale also had the Adelaide City side playing great football in 1979 when they won the NSL Cup Final 3-2 against St George club of Sydney.
